    The downside to social media

Social media has created a unique platform for us to connect with people from all chapters of our lives. But as these

platforms have tried to provide more value, they have resulted in a level of noise that can be difficult to sort through.

Yes, it's nice to feel loved but what makes you feel more special: that someone took two seconds to post something on your wall, or receiving a card or a personal note in your inbox?

Social media has created a unique platform for us to connect with people from all chapters of our lives. But as these platforms have tried to provide more value, they have resulted in a level of noise that can be difficult to sort through.

I could blame the platforms: with each change in algorithms, I saw more posts from the same people and missing posts that I would have actually cared about. But I think there was a more significant issue. I had found myself relying on a passive way of keeping up with my friends. I stopped picking up the phone as much and opted to instead respond on the platform, which, let's be honest, isn't as genuine.

Think about your birthday and all of the messages people post to your wall. Yes, it's nice to feel loved but what makes you feel more special: that someone took two seconds to post something on your wall, or receiving a card or a personal note in your inbox? Call me old fashioned, but I'd rather get a few very genuine notes than hundreds of generic ones.

I do not think I am alone in this feeling. The next time a good friend's birthday is coming up, think about how they would most like to hear from you. A handwritten card that you remembered to send a week before their big day? Who wouldn't be touched by that! Or a silly meme that celebrates one of your many inside jokes? Make it genuine, make it YOU, make it personal. The result will most surely be a smile.

Forget Me Not ai is created to remind you of these important dates, help you get started with your note, and then it's all in your hands: how you want to say Happy Birthday and how you want to send it.
