Reasons to reach out to your contacts

Aside from birthdays and anniversaries, it's easy to feel like there is no reason to reach out to your contacts. But taking advantage of those in-between times is a perfect way to stay front of mind with your contacts, and to generate more referral businesses.

Keep it as simple as "Thinking of you." It really can be that simple, and our system will even suggest the text for such a note! You can also decide when and how you want to send it: card or email.

  • "I was thinking of you and the kids with the back-to-school season. I hope you had a great summer! Once you've settled into your fall routine, we should get together to catch up."

  • "I came across an article today on ____ that made me think of you. I hope you enjoy it and hope you're doing well!"

  • "I was thinking of you today and hope you are well. Let's get together for coffee next time you're in the neighborhood!"

  • "Hi there! Just felt like sharing a smile with you today."

  • "Hey, you! What's new?

  • "Just wanted to say hi and ask about what you're up to these days."

  • "Just wanted to send some happy thoughts your way today."

  • "Call me when things calm down a little. It would be so good to hear your voice."

Other ideas for reaching out:

Host a small happy hour: Events don't have to be expensive or time-consuming to plan. Organize a happy hour at a local restaurant or even your office and invite 5-10 people. They will appreciate the invitation, and the group will be small enough that you can talk to everyone who was able to make it.

Sports talk: Does your contact love sports and follow their local teams or their alma mater? Baseball, football, soccer, and hockey seasons all provide plenty of opportunities. When the Capitals won the Stanley Cup, I was certainly impressed when a vendor sent me a congratulatory note.

Do some quick research: Check your contact's LinkedIn or Facebook profiles. Recent life updates, such as a new job or promotion, are a great reason to reach out. Rather than hitting the "congratulate" button on those platforms, send an email or card through Forget Me Not ai to make the note more personal. Soon you will be able to do this with a single click with our Chrome Extension!
